OUR HISTORY
1936
Paul Eberhart, the visionary behind Eberhart Sign & Lighting Company, showcased his artistic flair and skill by taking on sign projects for local businesses during his early years. His proficiency in this side venture was so impressive that he eventually resigned from his job to establish Eberhart Sign Co., specializing in commercial sign work and installation. Some of his uniquely creative projects even earned recognition in Signs of the Times, a national sign trade publication. Paul dedicated 53 years to the sign industry until his passing in 1982..
1977
Ron Eberhart, son of Paul, assumed ownership of the business from his parents, upholding the Eberhart tradition of "value, quality, and dependability." Serving as President and Secretary/Treasurer, Mr. Eberhart dedicated himself to the business until his retirement in 2012.
2012
After Ron’s retirement the reins were then passed to Edwardsville native Sue Shepard Schmidt. Sue steadfastly preserved the values and traditions established by Paul for the following 11 years, leading as President and contributing to the growth of the business until her retirement in December of 2023.
2023
Upon her retirement at the close of 2023, Sue transferred ownership to Mr. & Mrs. Michael & Savannah Romshek in December of the same year. As proud residents of Madison County, Michael and Savannah eagerly anticipate carrying forward the enduring values and traditions that Eberhart Sign & Lighting has consistently pursued. Michael and Savannah also intend to focus on the already deep-rooted relationships in Eberhart's community, along with maintaining the existing relationships with national companies.
